HOA management software is a platform for homeowners associations, neighborhood associations, and small condo boards to collect assessments, track architectural review requests, log violations, and communicate with homeowners.
Most HOA software is sold to property management companies, not homeowners. This guide is for self-managed HOAs and board members who want their own platform without hiring a management company.
01 · Evaluation criteria

Monthly, quarterly, or annual assessments with automatic reminders. Covey sends reminders before each renewal (30, 14, and 7 days by default) and a notice when a payment is missed, offers installment plans on annual assessments, and lists every payment in one Transactions list.
c/02
Homeowners submit requests with photos and measurements, the committee reviews online, and each decision has an audit trail. Not in Covey yet: Covey does not have an ARC workflow.
c/03
Each home should pay once while every resident gets access. In Covey, a household membership has one payer, and every resident gets their own login and directory listing. Violation tracking is not in Covey yet.
c/04
Bylaws, CC&Rs, minutes, financial statements, insurance certificates, all in one place. Not in Covey yet: Covey pages hold text and images, not file uploads.
c/05
Digital voting for board elections, bylaw amendments, and budget approvals. Not in Covey yet: many associations pair Covey with a dedicated election tool.
c/06
A flat monthly price, not a per-door management-company price. Covey is $49 to $139 a month for up to 500 active members; every resident on a household membership counts as a member.

For self-managed HOAs under 500 units: Covey, HOAStart, TownSq (free tier), AppFolio (if managed). Covey is the considered-design option; TownSq is the cheapest basic option.
$50 to $150/month for small HOAs (50 to 300 units). $150 to $400/month for larger self-managed HOAs (300 to 1,000 units).
Several HOA platforms support digital voting with audit trails for board elections, bylaw amendments, and special assessments. Covey does not yet.
