01 · What breaks today

The daily frustrations we actually fix.

  • Business directory that looks like a Yellow Pages scan from 2004
  • Sponsor tiers that live in a spreadsheet because the software cannot model them
  • Event check-in that still involves a printed list and a pen
  • Board meetings where the question 'how many members are current on dues?' takes two days to answer

02 · How chambers of commerce run on Covey

Four workflows that actually work.

w/01

Publish a searchable business directory

Member businesses appear in a directory on your website and in the member portal, searchable by name and filtered by category. Each business edits its own listing and chooses what to share (website, email, phone), and nobody is on the public internet until they opt in.

w/02

Run ribbon cuttings and networking events

Member and non-member pricing for the monthly networking breakfast and the annual gala. Waitlists for popular events. Check attendees in from the registration list. Members can register for up to 10 events in one checkout.

w/03

Sponsors and company members

Mark sponsors as sponsors in People and email them as a group. A company membership can include up to 50 people from the same business, each with their own login.

w/04

Know your cash position on demand

See dues collected, outstanding invoices, and event revenue in one place, with every payment landing in your own Stripe account.

03 · Things you're probably wondering

The questions we hear first.

We need a business directory that Google actually indexes.

Covey's business directory runs on your site and in the member portal: searchable, filtered by category, with listings member businesses edit themselves. It loads with JavaScript and does not create a separate search-indexed page for each member, so if per-member pages in Google are a must-have, Covey does not do that today.

Can Covey handle multi-chapter chambers?

Not in one account yet. Covey runs one organization per account, and its admin roles are by job (events, website, email, read-only), not by chapter. Each chapter can run its own Covey account.

What about ribbon-cutting announcements?

Send them as a broadcast to all members or a group, and add them to a page on your Covey website. There is no separate blog or announcements module yet.
