How does Wild Apricot price its plans?
Wild Apricot charges by contact count, not by active members. Every contact in your database counts toward your plan: lapsed members, event guests, prospects and subscribers as well as paying members. Wild Apricot does not move you between plans automatically; you are responsible for watching your contact count. All of its plans include the same features, and it offers 10% off for a 1-year prepay and 15% off for a 2-year prepay.

Wild Apricot no longer lists a free plan. It offers a 60-day free trial with no credit card required; the trial does not include online payments or a custom domain.
What does Wild Apricot charge on payments?
Wild Apricot itself takes no per-transaction cut. If you use its Personify Payments processor (US), cards cost 2.99% + $0.30, plus a $4.99/month account fee.
If a US or Canadian organization uses its own Stripe, PayPal or Authorize.Net account instead of Personify Payments, Wild Apricot adds a 20% Payment System Servicing Fee (PSSF) to the subscription price. How much does Covey cost?
Covey is priced by active members (active and grace-period members). Event-only guests and prospects don't count toward your plan. Every plan has every feature, including a custom domain. Starter is $49/month for up to 100 active members, Community is $79/month for up to 250, Association is $139/month for up to 500, and Professional is $229/month for up to 2,000. Annual billing gives you 2 months free. Over 2,000 members, talk to us. Covey takes 0% of your dues and event payments: you connect your own Stripe account and pay Stripe's standard rate, with no Covey surcharge. Because Covey counts members and Wild Apricot counts contacts, an organization with 400 members and 600 contacts is on Covey's 500 band ($139) but Wild Apricot's 2,000-contact tier ($265). Neither platform charges per email.
Where Wild Apricot is stronger
Be clear-eyed about this. Wild Apricot has a longer free trial (60 days against Covey's 30), a broader feature set built up over many years, a mobile app, an online store, and a much larger installed base and review history. If you need those today, Wild Apricot is a sensible choice. If you have close to 100 contacts and pay by 2-year prepay, the price gap is also smaller ($56.10/month against Covey's $40.83/month on annual billing).
Where Covey is cheaper
Covey is below Wild Apricot's price for the same number of people in every band up to 2,000, on monthly and on annual billing. The gap grows when your contact list is larger than your member list, because Wild Apricot bills for contacts and Covey bills for active members. It grows again if you want to use your own Stripe account, because Covey adds no surcharge where Wild Apricot adds 20%.
