Chamber of commerce software

Chamber of commerce software is a platform for local chambers, regional chambers, and affiliated trade groups to manage member businesses, collect dues, run events, and publish a business directory that drives referrals to members.

The chamber category has been dominated by GrowthZone/ChamberMaster for over a decade. The category has not had a modern alternative until recently. Here is what matters and what to watch for.

01 · Evaluation criteria

What to look for.

c/01

Public business directory

Searchable, filterable by category, and mobile-friendly, so members get referrals from people looking for services in your area. In Covey, member businesses keep their own listings current from the member portal and choose what is public. The directory loads on your site with JavaScript; it does not create a separate search-indexed page for each member.

c/02

Sponsor management

Model sponsorship tiers with benefits (event passes, directory placement, email mentions, logo placement). Sponsorship tiers are not in Covey yet; you can mark people as sponsors and email them as a group.

c/03

Event cart for multi-event registration

Chamber members sign up for a networking breakfast, a lunch-and-learn, and the annual gala in one checkout. Waitlists for sold-out events. Covey does all of this, with up to 10 events in one checkout and check-in from the registration list.

c/04

Ribbon cuttings and announcements

An announcement module that doubles as member email content and a public news feed. Not in Covey yet: send announcements as a broadcast and add them to a page on your Covey website.

c/05

Chamber-scale pricing

Chambers under 500 members should not be on an enterprise plan. Look for plans that fit small chambers without implementation fees.

c/06

Migration from GrowthZone / ChamberMaster

If you are switching, confirm migration scope before signing. Covey's migration moves members, membership levels, renewal dates, custom fields, and directory data, and rebuilds upcoming events. It does not bring over event or billing history.

02 · Buying questions

Questions you should be asking.

What's the best chamber of commerce software?

For large chambers with dedicated staff and budget: GrowthZone/ChamberMaster, MemberClicks. For small to mid chambers: Covey, MembershipWorks, Weblink. The category is opening up as legacy tools age.

How much does chamber software cost?

Small chambers: $100 to $300/month. Mid-sized chambers: $300 to $800/month. Large chambers: $800 to $2,500/month plus implementation. GrowthZone and ChamberMaster commonly quote $500 to $1,500/month with setup fees.

Can we switch from GrowthZone or ChamberMaster?

Yes. Covey's GrowthZone migration moves members, membership levels, renewal dates, and directory data, and rebuilds upcoming events. Expect 48 hours human-led.

Do we need a ChamberMaster-specific tool?

Not necessarily. Any modern platform with public directory support, sponsor tiers, and event management can run a chamber. Evaluate based on the specific chamber workflows you run, not the brand.

04 · Where Covey fits

We built Covey for this.

Covey is built for organizations in the chamber of commerce software category that want four things at once: a considered interface, transparent pricing, a 48-hour migration, and human support on every plan. If those four things matter to you, Covey is worth a demo. If you need something else (a specific vertical module, an enterprise-scale implementation, a particular integration), we will tell you and point you somewhere that fits.

Considered interface

Legacy membership platforms feel like they were designed in 2008. Covey is built by a small team that treats typography, spacing, and the quiet details as the product.

48-hour human migration

A real human moves your members, levels, and renewal dates from your existing platform and rebuilds your upcoming events and email templates. You're live on Covey inside 48 hours, not six weeks.

100% human support, every plan

No support tiers, no ticket queues that take four business days. Every plan includes a real person answering your questions, often the same person who wrote the feature.

Pricing you can read

One page, plain numbers. Plans are priced by active members, not contacts, and every plan has every feature. Migration is included, onboarding is included, support is included.
